Dear Colleagues,

Please find below the announcement for the special issue of ASR relevant to CEDAR. The manuscript submission has started and I hope to receive significant contributions from CEDAR community.

With regards, Alok.

Papers are invited for the special issue of Advances in Space Research on the topic ‘Recent Advances in Equatorial, Low- and Mid- Latitude Mesosphere, Thermosphere - Ionosphere System Studies’. The issue will deal with the recent advances in the field of equatorial, low- and mid-latitude mesosphere, thermosphere and ionosphere from observational (ground-based and space-borne), theoretical and simulation studies. Contributions related to all aspects in these areas are welcome. Topics include: MLT region; response of the thermosphere-ionosphere system to forcing from above and below; coupling between high-, mid- and low latitude regions including vertical coupling; magnetosphere-ionosphere coupling; data-assimilation and tomography; space weather events; long and short term variability in mesosphere, thermosphere and ionosphere; latitudinal and/or longitudinal variability; ionospheric irregularities and scintillations. This special issue is open to all scientists having an appropriate scientific paper.

Papers must be submitted electronically to . To ensure that all manuscripts are correctly identified for inclusion into the special issue, authors must select "Special Issue: Advances in MLTIS Studies" when they reach the "Article Type" step in the submission process.

Submitted papers must be written in English and should include full affiliation addresses for all authors. Only full-length papers will be considered for publication, subject to peer review by two reviewers. There are no page limits although the length of the paper should be appropriate for the material being presented. While the deadline for submissions is 7 April 2013, papers will be published electronically as soon as they are accepted, after review process is over. The printed issue will be assembled within a reasonable time with late papers being printed in regular issues of ASR. All articles will be typeset at no cost to the author; there is a nominal charge for printing color figures although there is no charge for color figures on the electronic version.
