Dear colleagues,

You are cordially invited to submit an abstract to our AGU fall session:

SA008 (CO-SPONSORED by SM): Magnetosphere-Ionosphere-Thermosphere Coupling and its Consequences

  • - How can we improve our consistent picture of the fully coupled system?
  • - How can we optimally use new capabilities of observations and modeling both in the magnetosphere and the ionosphere-thermosphere?

Abstract submission deadline is approaching to 8th Aug. The detailed session information can be found: http://fallmeeting.agu.org/2012/session-search/single/magnetosphere-ionosphere-thermosphere-coupling-and-its-consequences/

Hope to see you there, Naomi Maruyama, Vladimir Sotnikov, Larry Lyons, Tony Kim

Description:

"New space and ground-based observations and modeling advances are greatly improving our consistent understanding of the dynamics and structures coupling the inner magnetosphere, ionosphere, plasmasphere, and thermosphere. Electrodynamics, particle precipitation, and neutral winds all play crucial roles in the coupling. Consequences of the coupling include SAPS, smaller scale SAID structures, and irregularities. Despite substantial progress, a consistent picture of the fully coupled system remains a challenge. Scientists from magnetospheric, ionospheric and atmospheric disciplines are invited to bring their own perspectives on where we are and how to seek new ways to address the coupling questions in a consistent manner."
